  2. Hi I haven’t sailed in one of these particular catamarans, though I have sailed in catamarans. The motion of a catamaran is completely different to that of a yacht, but there is something very special about sitting on the net between the two hulls and watching the water speed by underneath. They are great for dropping anchor and swimming off the stern too, also very spacious. All round good fun. Thanks for this article about the three most popular cruising catamarans.

  5. I really don’t know much about sailing, catamarans and all that. I do love the look of the catamarans and can imagine a day out in the sea enjoying a sunny day drinking a cocktail… One can only dram! Now seriously, being a green kind of girl if I had to buy one it would be the Foutaine Pajot as it used renewable energy sources. However, I can imagine you need to have some kind of sailing licence to operate these machines, where do you get one?

    • Hi Ana,

You need an International bareboat skipper certification to charter a yacht on your own, and for this, you must do theory and practice course.
The best courses are at the RYA “The Royal Yachting Association”

      I hope this helped
      Have a great day!

  6. I’m a huge fan of the Lagoons and the FPs. Just curious though, why didn’t Leopard make the list. The Leopard 39 is my dream machine!

    • Hi again Chris,

They did! The Leopard cats were built by Robertson & Caine and in addition, in 1998 they were the charter yachts of the year! Some of charter companies offers a wide range of Leopard catamaran throughout the world.
They now have a big list of Leopard power catamarans which are extremely successful! The Leopard 43 is an exceptional powercat. The interior has been up dated and is absolutely beautiful.
Have a great day and keep sailing!
