US Divers Admiral Snorkel Set – In-Depth Review!

US Divers has been one of the most trusted snorkeling set providers in the industry for quite some time. Its range of equipment is designed to meet the needs of both novice and experienced snorkelers.

Among the company’s snorkel set models that are doing well in the market right now is the US Divers Admiral snorkel set. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at its design features, usability, benefits, and other relevant details you might need to know.

What’s Included in The US Divers Admiral Set?

The Adult Snorkel Set Admiral from US Divers includes an Admiral mask, trek fins, island dry snorkel, and gear storage bag. This package comes in a range of colors including black, white, blue, yellow, electric blue, cobalt blue, red titanium, and neon yellow with blue.

Pivot Dry Snorkel Tube

The US Diver’s Admiral comes with a snorkel tube that’s 100 percent submersible, thanks to the patented Pivot Dry Technology and steady purge valve.

This feature allows the tube to close automatically for dry breathing when submerged and helps keep water out, whether it’s above or below the surface of the water.

The tube’s hypoallergenic silicone mouthpiece not only blocks water from leaking into the tube but also prevents jaw fatigue when you use it over an extended period of time.

The US Divers Admiral snorkel set’s easy-to-use assembly purge also allows you to just exhale to clear any water that’s in the snorkel tube if need be.

Dual Lens Mask

The Admiral LX mask features a 2-window silicone construction with a dual glass lens configuration for a crystal clear view while underwater. It also comes with 3-way Pro-Glide buckles that are easy to adjust both in and out of the water.

The clips are made of hard plastic, so you should be keen not to break them off by tugging them too much. The mask’s face skirt comes with a super soft silicone that not only assures you of perfect fit but also ultimate comfort during extended snorkeling sessions.

Trek Fins for Adaptability

The US Divers Admiral dual-composite fin blades are designed with pivot-flex technology that assures you of excellent snap and power.

The trek fins also come with a soft foot pocket, which means you can kick comfortably without hurting your foot or ankle- and attain maximum performance using minimal effort.

The heel straps also come with a quick-release buckle system that makes the process of adjusting the fins or getting them on and off quite seamless.

Will The Mask Work With A Moustache Or A Beard?

Diving with a thick mustache or bushy beard can sometimes prove to be a tricky affair, as that increases the chances of the mask leaking.

But the US Divers Admiral mask comes with a high-quality and pliable silicone skirt that can perfectly fit the face without interfering with your masterpiece.

If your mustache is quite big, you should try shaving or trimming the area just below the nose to create a bare area on which the snorkel’s mask will seal.

You can also apply mask seal- a food grade silicone grease-on your mustache in order to create a better sealing surface for the mask’s skirt. Other viable options you can try include using a full-face mask, shortening your mustache to pencil-thin size, thinning out the
mustache or completely shaving it off.

Can You Wear Glasses With The U.S. Divers Mask?

Diving and snorkeling are all about experiencing the underwater biodiversity firsthand. However, the unfortunate thing is that if you use glasses while snorkeling, you cannot wear them with the US Divers mask.

That can be quite limiting to some of us, right? But you shouldn’t give up just yet. You can actually use contact lenses to see clearly while snorkeling with the US Divers Admiral snorkel set.

Can You Wear the Fins Barefoot or Do You Need Socks?

Wearing water socks is very important when going snorkeling as that helps prevent chaffing that can occur when using the fins.

Those who wear the US Diver Admiral fins barefoot may experience chaffing on the heel area; the ankles and/or the upper foot while snorkeling.

That’s caused by the constant rubbing of these areas with the fin, which in extreme cases might lead to the development of blisters.

Water socks can also be great for your snorkeling adventure if you have allergic reactions to rubber-based products. That’s because the socks provide a perfect barrier between your skin and the fins.

In addition to preventing chaffing and allergic reactions, Lycra water socks can provide thermal insulation and protect your feet from jellyfish and coral stings.

Can You Use The US Divers For Diving Too?

Snorkeling and SCUBA diving are pretty much related as they both involve underwater explorations. But the equipment used in each of these sports are a bit different. In order to go snorkeling, all you need is a mask, snorkel, foot fins, and probably a vest.

But for SCUBA diving, you primarily need a pressurized gas tank with a tube, a mask, and a pair of fins. That means you cannot use the US Divers Admiral Snorkeling set for SCUBA diving. Also, snorkel fins lack important features needed for stronger currents and deeper depths.

However, if you are a fan of free diving-which typically requires fins and swim goggles only-you might find the US Diver fins quite useful.

Who Is The US Diver For?

The US Diver Admiral Snorkelling set is for anyone who’s crazy about exploring the underwater marine life, the corals, the wrecks, and any other interesting water formations.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned snorkeler, you can find this snorkel equipment great to use. US Divers snorkel set can also be perfect for solo snorkeling, group snorkeling, and team-building snorkeling adventures.

There’s really no limit to what and where you can use this equipment as far as snorkeling is concerned.

Why Should You Buy It?

Buying the US Divers Admiral set simply means you can go snorkeling anywhere at any time-whether weekdays or weekends- without much hassle.

Owning a set of snorkeling equipment rather than renting one also ensures you spend less money and enjoy unlimited snorkeling adventures.

So purchasing one is a lifetime investment that can make your snorkeling hobby convenient and fun-filled.

  1. Thanks for this in-depth review. My wife and I have recently relocated to Phuket Thailand, so some fins, goggles and snorkel will certainly come in handy.

I am an experienced scuba diver, so other than the fins, this equipment can double up as my soft gear.
this is very relevant for my needs right now.

    • Hi Keith,

      You are very welcome!
A pair of snorkel will always come in handy no matter where you are:) Of course, if you are in Thailand, you need to be well equipped!  Bear in mind that those snorkel fins are more for beginner snorkelers and not for advanced divers:)

Thank you for the comment and wish you a lovely day!

  2. Great article on the US Divers Admiral snorkel set and all the benefits of it. That is very interesting that it can overcome the challenge of some if a beard or facial hair. This is actually something my husband complains about when we are on vacation and he lets his face just be without his constant shaving daily for work, and after a full week of not shaving, the grip can be an issue. this sounds like a solution to that. I like that this is a high-quality product that we could purchase and travel with. I always hate putting a mask on and snorkel in my mouth from a tour company when you have no idea if it has been cleaned properly. Thanks for this information!

    • Hi Lyndsay,

I am glad you found the article useful!
Yes, facial hair can sometimes be a challenge, but if the person follow the tips stated in the article, he can certainly enjoy his snorkel adventure without having leaking issues:)
As I mentioned in the article, it’s a great pair of snorkel set for everyday use, but it’s not of the highest quality on the market.

I personally never use rented snorkel equipment because I am quite picky:) But some of my friends do, and they find it very handy.

Thank you for the comment and wish you a fantastic day!

  3. great article on the US Divers Admiral Snorkel Set. that is interesting information about those who wear these fins barefoot could experience chaffing on the foot. I had not thought of that, but I have never snorkeled more than an afternoon at a time so I suppose I just had not had to think through that. But it does sound like this product has thought through everything else to be efficient. I think glasses will always be a difficult one to manage with glasses and contacts will always be preferred, so I don’t think that is a slight against the US Divers Admiral Snorkel Set. Thanks for this information, I have found it helpful.

    • Hi Lyndsay,

I am glad you found the article useful!
Yes, effectively, if wearing the open heel fins barefoot – meaning without water sock, it can definitely chaff the foot, and that can really hurt. That’s why it’s always recommended to wear thin water socks with open heel fins. As I mentioned in the article, wearing glasses under a snorkel mask is not a good idea as it will interfere with the seal. So soft contacts are the best alternative!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a lovely day!

  4. wow-first of all great website. I am always happy to see more and more people promoting this great sport for people to get involved with. This snorkeling set would be great for beginners to learn on I believe. I have eight-year-old twin boys and am ready to teach them. Do you think this set is adjustable enough to fit them or can you recommend another? Also, do have water socks? Thank you

    • Hi Vic,

Thank you for the compliment, I really appreciate!
Indeed, sailing is a fun activity, especially with friends and family:) To answer your question, this set is great for beginners as well as for advanced snorkelers, and it can be used as additional equipment too. As I mentioned it in the article, this set is not of the best quality, but for the price, it’s worth it. What matters the most is that you are comfortable wearing it. The size of the set is according to the feet length. If for instance, you wear shoes 10, then you should choose Medium. As for the mask and the fins, they are adjustable. So you can fix them to the right fit. Many customer reviewers bought this set for their children, and they are happy with it. I think the small will be fine and in case it doesn’t fit well, you can always send them back and replace them with the right size. But if you don’t want to take the risk, the Naga Sports Kids Snorkel Set is excellent for children. Highly recommended! As for the water socks, I’ll be soon reviewing the best ones on the market:)

I hope it helped! Let me know if you need more information, I’ll be more than happy to assist!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a fantastic day!

  5. We are wanting to do some more snorkeling this summer. My son is not too keen on using the boat’s provided equipment, well neither am I actually. Would be so nice to have our own equipment. One problem is that my son wears glasses and he can’t see the best under water without them. So to purchase something like this would be great for me, but I am wondering if they make prescription sets? He does have prescription goggles that we ordered off the Internet and they work great.

    • Hi Matt,

That’s great that your son and you are going snorkeling this summer! It’s understandable that you are not keen on using used snorkeling set because they are usually not in good shape and it’s not really esthetic:)
The snorkel mask doesn’t come with prescription glasses, but you can definitely send the mask with your son’s prescription glasses to your dive shop. Be aware though that it cost few hundred bucks. So make sure the mask fits well to the face before spending money on it. Your son can also wear soft contact lenses each time he goes snorkeling. Many snorkelers do this, and it works fantastically!

I hope it helped and if you need to know further info, feel free to contact me. I am always happy to help!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a wonderful day!

    • Hi Shane,

Indeed, the US snorkel set is great for snorkeling. To answer your question. The fins are the size of your shoes. For example, Medium is 7 to 10, Small is 4 to 7, and Large is 10 to 13. These are open fins – meaning you can adjust them to your fit, but I would suggest you wear thin water socks under to prevent chafing. I am not sure if Amazon ship to Australia, but I think so.

      I hope it helped:)
