A catamaran yacht charter is a great way to experience an unforgettable adventure with family, especially in the BVI. Yet, many travelers wonder if it’s the right decision to bring their children on a yacht charter, worrying it may not be safe enough.
Don’t worry, many parents feel the same way about this subject, and I can affirm that families enjoy very much sailing with their children and contrary to what you might think, kids love being on a boat as well!
Why a Catamaran in the BVI?
A catamaran yacht is fantastic for a family sailing trip. This impressive boat was specially designed to sail in comfort and in luxury. There are many regions with shallow water in the BVI, and a cat will allow you to access where a monohull can’t due to its shallow draft.
A sailing Cat is much faster, lighter, and more comfortable than a monohull. You’ll be amazed at the amount of space you have on this boat. You will surely enjoy sucking up the sun on the trampoline or have fun jumping all over with your children.
Also, you’ll be able to anchor close to the shore, which makes it much easier if you want to make a stop and have fun on the beach with your children or simply dive in the clear blue water of the BVI. Also, if you plan to sail with the whole family, you’ll need a lot of storage for suitcases, clothes, children’s toys, in a few words, room for everything!
When it’s the Best Time to Sail in the BVI?
There are no better times to sail in the BVI, and each month has its own advantages and disadvantages. As opposed to other countries, the BVI is crowded almost throughout the year and has the highest rates from December, January, and February to the beginning of March.
From March to mid of June, the crowds start to go away, and the rates go down. The best months for no crowds are June, July, and August, with very great water, but there is still a threat of Hurricanes in September and October. The month of November is rainy; the hurricanes disappear; the rates are great, and almost no crowds.
The Best Spots to Enjoy with Children!
Virgin Gorda
If you’ve never sailed in the BVI and you want to know where are the good spots to have fun with children., then I recommend you to go to the Baths on Virgin Gorda, your kids will love to swim and climb around the boulders, it will keep them busy all day long, but you have to get there early in the morning, before the crowds.
Norman Island
Norman Island and the Bight, are both great spots to enjoy. They will love to jump off the Willie T and do some snorkeling around the Indians. It is also very close to Tortola, there you can go to the Caves with the kids, and continue to the Pirate’s Beach.
Cooper Island
They will be enchanted to play the Pirates on Cooper Island beach and swim in the clear blue water with beautiful sea turtles in the Great Harbour.
Dick’s Last Resort is a wonderful place. There you will enjoy exploring many beautiful coves, iguanas, and the donkey.
Anegada
Don’t miss Anegada, where you’ll be amazed by the stunning beach and snorkeling.
Sailing with family provides you with a lot of fun, you’ll become better partners, it teaches how to share, to take responsibilities, to get along with each other, and for sure, will bring you closer together!
