How to Party on a Catamaran- Top Party Planning Tips

Many factors determine how to party on a catamaran including, the reason for the celebration, who will be attending, and the interests of the party goers.

Throwing a getaway celebration on a catamaran can provide a special setting for an important or meaningful event. It only takes some planning and creativity to pull off a memorable, joyful party that will be spoken of fondly for years.

4 Tips to Organize the Boat

Organizing a party on a catamaran shouldn’t be a stressful task as long as you stick with a game plan and recruit help from other attendees. Keep the following tips in mind while you plan.

1 – Buy what you need in advance.

Avoid last minute runs to the store or trying to hunt down an item on an island.

2 – Make sure all equipment works before you set off.

You can’t always prevent something from going wrong, but it’s best to start out with everything in good working condition.

3 – Plan alternative activities in case of inclement weather, scheduling snafus, or technical issues.

Unexpected things happen no matter how carefully you’ve planned everything out. It’s better to have a backup activity than for everyone to be left sitting around.

4 – Ask reliable friends or family to help with important details.

If you know Uncle George only has a 50/50 shot of remembering to buy birthday candles, ask someone else to pick them up.

Decoration

Inside the cabin of a catamaran, anything goes, but above deck, you should be careful about the decorations used. Streamers, balloons, and anything not anchored down may not fare well if the wind picks up. Decorating should be fun and festive without being intrusive to the party goers. Chinese paper lanterns, string Christmas lights or hang a disco ball are just a few suggestions.

5 Best Party Ideas

1 – Milestone Birthdays

A birthday party celebrated on a catamaran is even more special if it’s a birthday that signals a life change. A 21st birthday to a 40th can become more than a mere changing of an age for the birthday boy or girl!

2 – Bachelor/Bachelorette Getaways

Increasingly popular are trips for bachelor, bachelorette, or combination parties. Get away with your friends for one last blast before it’s made official.

3 – Sweet Sixteen

A sweet sixteen party for a girl out on a boat can be a fun and novel way to celebrate this milestone. The guest of honor will also appreciate bringing a few girlfriends to celebrate with her family.

4 – High School/College Graduation

As a graduation present, take the graduate and a group of their friends out on a catamaran to celebrate their achievement.

5 – Retirement

An older adult often gets a subdued retirement affair to commemorate their retirement. Forget that, and go for a boat party with family and friends.

5 Best Party Activities

1 – Snorkeling

Snorkeling is an activity that is fun with a group of people. There are plenty of opportunities for photos and it never gets old pointing out wonders under the water for others to check out.

2 – Karaoke

No party can be complete without a few guests taking an embarrassing turn at the mic.

3 – Limbo

Yes, it’s cheesy, but it’s also a lot of fun, especially with family.

4 – Water Play

Jet skiing, paddle boats, and kayaking allow everyone to spread out and get physical.

5 – Trip to a Private Beach

Swimming and sunbathing on a private beach gives the guests a different setting to explore and enjoy.

In Conclusion

A party on a catamaran is more intimate and emphasizes togetherness and closeness with one another. It should always be in the mind of the guest of honor that everyone in attendance came to celebrate you!

  1. I’ve never thought of having a party on a boat before, but now I think it could be a great idea. I’ll have to keep it in mind for next time one of my friends or relatives is getting married for example. I suppose it depends how well people cope with being out at see. Alcohol plus sea may make some people feel a bit ill.

Have you had any good parties on boats?

  2. Hi Daniella,

I never had a party on catamaran, infact I have never been on catamaran, I live in a place very far away from the sea, and we don’t a luxury to spend time on catamaran. But after reading your post I feel like having party on catamaran, hope someday I can.

    Thanks

  3. Brilliant idea! I attended a wedding on a boat and it was fantastic (well except for the AC going out in the cabin during a hot summer day in Texas!) I definitely recommend a party on a boat for that special someone on their special day. It is unique and a lot of fun!

Not sure if the Catamaran has the room for this, but a suggestion is a small band and dancing.

    Thank you for sharing.

  4. I have visited your site before, and I think it is a lovely site with good quality images, however I am not sure if English is you first language as I do feel you can perhaps have your post flowing a bit more natural.. for example as an opening line I would have gone with something like ” Celebrate your special occasion in style hire a boat/catamaran and give you guests a party to remember” I like the check list of suggestions/tips perhaps you can demonstrate what the difference is between the boat option and the catamaran, think about what type of people your looking to attract, see what the top trends in boat parties are try looking at ( best private boat hire parties 2015) and see what comes up, you have the makings of a great website and it is offering something exclusive and I am assuming that it has quite a price tag on it so it will narrow down your market a bit. I hope this is of help and you understand what I am getting at. wish you every success

  5. I had my 45th birthday on the River Thames, great fun! But now that I’m heading towards my 50th I think we could take it up a notch, don’t you think? It’s funny this weekend we were at friends and my wife asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday. I’m so glad I found your site. Tell me, looking at a reasonable sized boat and on a tight budget how many people can you get on a catamaran?

    • Hi Vintage,

50-Year-old is very spécial and without a doubt has to be celebrated:) I would suggest you to take a look at these beautiful catamarans, I am sure you’ll find something that will suit you. The Lagoon 380 s2 is a very nice cat, it can accommodate up to 8 passengers. If you don’t have any certification to navigate by yourself, then you can hire a skipper. If you are on a budget, you can rent a cabin as an alternative. The prices are very attractive and it’s a wonderful way to enjoy sailing. The cost of the cabin charter will depend on the boat and the destination.

I hope it helped and if you need more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me , I’ll be more than happy to assist:)

Thank you for the comment and wish you a wonderful birthday 50!

  6. Hi, Daniella!
Good idea to celebrate birthday party on the sailing boat! Once we did it for my husband birthday on Dnipro River in Ukraine. It was marvelous! We would like to do it again. And we adore sailing parties in marines. They are almost international and people who are sailing almost not ordinary. Great article Thank you that you remind me to do such party this summer again!
    Sincerely,
    Zhanna
