Yacht-Rent is a yacht charter company based in Croatia with 10 years of experience matching clients to their perfect yachts and ideal destinations.

You can search the online database of over 3500 boats, easy to find a yacht to charter in one of the following countries: Croatia, Dominican Republic, Greece, Italy, France, Montenegro, Slovenia, Spain or Turkey.

Each listing is very descriptive with photos so you can see exactly what the boats will look like.

Easy Search

Search results are clearly displayed as a thumbnail image with a summary detailing the model and length of the boat, the number of people suited for, the number of cabins and a number of toilets, plus location.

Select the listing to specify additions, and there are many to choose from: damage waiver, the internet, airport transfer, safety net, spinnaker, regatta, hostess, skipper etc. all with costs clearly detailed.

Sailing Yachts

Over 3000 of the yachts are sailing yachts with Yacht-Rent, as sailing using the wind makes for a relaxing and inexpensive holiday (low fuel costs). Bavaria, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Elan, Dufour, Hanse, Salona, and Grand Soleil are popular models of sailing yachts.

Motor Yachts

Includes luxury yachts, bareboat or skippered with an optional crew to make your vacation special. Fuel is an additional cost to add in when chartering a motor yacht. You can get to your destinations faster under power rather than sail as you are not waiting for the wind!

Catamarans

More stable on two hulls than one, a catamaran is a great choice for families with children or those who do not tolerate the rolling motion of the sea as well. A shallow draft allows for easy anchoring in some of the least accessible bays allowing greater access to those beaches. Yacht-Rent Charter offers more than 300 Catamarans for charter in Croatia from known manufacturers such as Lagoon, Leopard, Nautitech, and Privilege, as just a few examples of the quality designs to choose from.

Gullets

A gullet is a traditional Mediterranean wooden motor sailer with 4 to 10 cabins accommodating up to 20 people. Your very own floating hotel with sunbathing areas, private bathrooms, and dining areas. Choose full or half board for an unforgettable experience.

Wide Choice of Yachts

Yacht-Rent charter sailing yachts, catamarans, mega yachts, gullets, speedboats, motorboats, and trimarans. There are over 3500 boats to choose from so you can be sure to find the perfect boat for your dream yacht charter.

Marinas starting point

You can charter boats from any of the 30 marinas in Croatia, with the regions of Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Sibenik, Split, and Dubrovnik being the most popular. As well Croatia,

2) Aside from the Dominican Republic, Yacht-Rent does not provide a yacht charter facility at any of the popular Caribbean destinations such as the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands etc.

  1. I have heard about renting yachts but never realized that there where around 3500 to choose between when planning on a trip. With that many yachts to choose from, you are correct that there should be one that would fit the budget and experience for a vacation I’d be looking for on the water down south.
Great post and well worth looking into for possible my next vacation.

    • Hi Travis,

Indeed, there are many types of boats to choose from, but this will depend on the size of the company you select for your sailing getaway. You will have much more choice in a large company than in a small one.

Thank you for the comment and wish a wonderful day!

  2. I wasn’t even aware that one could rent a yacht. This is such a cool, unique idea! You can live the high life without the high pricetag of owning and maintaining a yacht. I know you need a skippers license obviously but this is such a cool idea. Thanks for the insight. You learn something new every day! Keep up the great work!!

    • Hi Guy,

As you said, maintaining a yacht is much more expensive than chartering a yacht. Many yacht owners rent out their boats to keep them:)

Thank you for the comment and the compliment!

  4. Nice article, years ago I use to work on cruise ships so I was used to seeing different types of yachts when we docked. I also currently live (23years) on the South Coast of England right near a harbor so we see yachts daily coming in and out. I used to go out yachts but not so much now; some of them are so beautiful that you could actually live on them. If I had the money I’d buy one and travel the world.

    • Hi Sharon,

I’ve never been in South Coast of England, but I heard from some friends of mine that this region is beautiful!

Yes, many people live on a boat today. The quality of life is much healthier, less stress, nice breeze, beautiful views, what can we ask more!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a nice day:)

  5. This looks like a great idea for a spectacular holiday on the ocean. I have only ever been on a large cruise ship and that was a wonderful holiday.

It would be a dream come true to get a few friends a skipper and a cook and hire one of these yachts tjo go on a private cruise.

    • Hi Michel,

How nice to see you again:)

Cruise ships are also a great way to enjoy holiday, but on a yacht you will definitely have more privacy:)

Everything start with a dream, this is the first step, so keep dreaming and it will come true!

  6. I am planning a trip to the Dominican with my family and friends. We will be approximately 20 people. Is it possible to rent a catamaran for that many people? Does the captain come with it? I am so looking forward to this trip. I will keep looking through your site, I am sure to find the answers to all of my questions.

    • Hi there,

It will depend on the length of the catamaran, but generally a catamaran can accommodate at the maximum 8 to 12 person included the crew, so if you have 20 person in your party then it is obvious that you’ll need to hire more than one yacht:)

I hope it helped and if you need more information, please feel free to ask, I’ll be more than happy to assist!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a wonderful day!

  8. Been on an Alaskan cruise before, but never had the opportunity to charter a yacht. Would be great to hire one of these for a private mediterranean cruise!

Thanks for the tips on what sorta boat to choose too – I generally don’t take to the rolling motion too well at first, so if I ever get to do this, that’ll be really helpful! =)

    • Hi Raze,

Alaska is a beautiful country to explore especially by boat and the Mediterranean is not less attractive!

A cruise ship is a nice way to travel, but a yacht, in my opinion, is much more agreeable for the reason that you have more privacy and you are the one who decide of the itinerary and the activities all along the sailing holiday!

Here is a nice article to read about yacht vs cruise . You’ll find all the pros and cons for both of them.

Thank you for the comment and wish you a lovely day!

  9. Wow that’s a very attractive idea. Rent a yacht. I have never really thought about that possibility before but wandering on the Internet helps to find new ideas again :).

It seems that there are many different types available to try. I’m just thinking what are the prices. Need to take some further research… Maybe you could add here some prices to make the page even more valuable and informative?

    • Hi Roope,

As you said it, there are so many different types of yachts to choose from, therefore, it is impossible to determine the exact price in the article. The cost of the boat will depend on many factors, such as the destination, the length of the vessel, crew, skipper, and much more.

If you would like to know the rates, you’ll need to check on Yacht-Rent website and see the yachts list. I am pretty sure you’ll be well informed.

I hope it helped and, please if you need more information you can contact me at any time, I’ll be glad to assist!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a wonderful day!

  10. Hey Daniella,
Wow! Such a wonderful and informative post. My dad would absolutely love this. One thing I’ve never done is taken time off and go sailing. Actually, just thinking back, I’ve never even been in a yacht before.
These yachts look so beautiful and I’m definitely going to share this on to my dad.
Well done and can’t wait to see more!

  11. Hey there Daniella,
This is a great review, I’ve always wanted to go travel the seas. I’ve always been an airplane kind of guy as I’m terrified that anything might happen while im on a boat (Pirate attcks etc)

But after a few plane crashes, I was like life is too short to not try so why not right? Do I have to go to croatia to rent or, can I rent from anywhere for the yacht?

    • Hi Riaz,

The worse thing you can do in life is stopping yourself from doing things you love just because you think you are afraid. Life is unpredictable and sorry to say that, but an accident can happen anywhere, even at home. So, what are you going to do about it? Stay at home to protect yourself? I don’t think so! Enjoy life because as you said it, life is very short:)

No, you don’t have to go to Croatia to rent a boat, you can book your sailing trip online or contact the charter company and they will take care of everything!

Thank you for the comment, I really appreciate:)

I wish you a wonderful day!

  12. Hi Daniella

Even though i have never had the opportunity to sail, it is my dream to travel and visit different parts of the world using various transport means (either by land, water or air.)

You know, even when you have the financial means, it doesn’t end there because you still need to look for a place to get the right services.

Hopefully, your yacht rent review will be of help to me if i one day have the opportunity. to sail.

Thanks for sharing and all the best.

Yes, you are right, no matter what we do or where we go, it is very important to know with who we deal!

So reviews are an essential factor in order to guide and help people to make the right decision.

  13. Hi Daniella
My wife and I are looking at trying out a Yacht Sail late next year.

We have absolutely no experience, so definitely would use a skipper to take us safely through the journey.

I am glad to have come by the services of ‘Yact-Rent’ via your site.

We have bookmarked this for next year.

Thanks for being a great help.

  14. This sounds like an awesome way to have a holiday. I’ve never visited Croatia, but I have heard there is lots to see there, both inland and on the coast. What better way to explore the coast than by hiring your very own yacht. And it seems there are so many yachts to choose from. It looks like a truly beautiful part of the world to explore.

  15. Interesting review, I had no idea about this Yacht-Rent site. I wasn’t actually thinking about renting a yacht, because I don’t have a licence (as far as I know you need one special for driving a yacht, right?) but it may be a very glamorous thing to do in a holiday.
Now I’m just dreaming about a blue, clean water, with a beautiful weather and me sitting in a yacht there. Ohh, too bad it’s just a dream, lol

    • Hi Ashley,

Yes, you need a skipper licence to navigate on your own and yes, you can definitely do some sailing courses while you are on vacation, indeed, It can be very fun!

Thank you for the comment and wish you to sail soon:)

      • Hi Ashley!
Actually you need no skipper license to fulfill your dream 🙂 Every boat in Yacht-Rent online database has an option to be chartered with a skipper. Skipper is provided by the charter company that owns the boat and he is very familiar with the boat as well as the cruising area. Skipper usually costs about 100 EUR per day and he will take care about the boat. You can just enjoy the sun and the clean blue sea 🙂

  16. Such a great way to have a holiday, renting a yacht gives you an amazing way to combine your transport, entertainment and accommodation into one great package. I have done this a few time in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and definitely recommend this mode of travel as a spectacular way to see the world from different perspective!
    See you out there!

This would be something I would love to do when our kids are older. I just wouldn’t be comfortable on a yacht in the open water with a toddler and a 4 year old… neither can swim!
I never thought of hiring a yacht for a holiday but it sounds just stunning. I will definitely have a browse around and dream about it!

I used to sail with my kids when they were toddlers and it was absolutely fantastic, they enjoyed so much to be on a boat:) Here is a nice article about how to sail with kids, I am sure you will find it very helpful.
