Lagoon 410 Catamaran Review – A Superior Cat!

The Lagoon 410 catamaran is a super fun toy to sail in, thanks to its superb performance and the many comfy amenities it offers on board.

Considering how spacious this vessel is, you can actually hop aboard with a couple of family members or a bunch of friends and sail your holiday away in style.

Here is the Lagoon 410 catamaran review that will give you a clear picture of what this beautiful vessel has to offer.

Accommodation

The Lagoon 410 has a total of 8 berths (four double berths) and four toilets, which are just enough to enjoy with all your guests while on a charter sailing trip. Both the rear and forward berths are spacious enough to accommodate the sleeping needs of an entire family or a couple of friends.

Two of the aft berths run athwartships while those on the fore run longitudinally. The aft berths are well-ventilated and feature an opening skylight and a number of portlights too.
There’s also sufficient space in the lockers and the under the bed where you can store your belonging for the entire trip.

The forward berths are narrower and can be a great place for big teenagers to sleep in. A larger part of the berth is finished with Mukali plywood, something that makes the space
simple while lending it a classic feel.

Interior

The interior of the Lagoon 410 cat is as comfortable and cozy as it can ever be. The saloon, which can be accessed via a wide doorway, features a premium seating space with a double bench seating around the table for a sizable amount of guests to relax as they enjoy a conversation or watch TV.

It also boasts of 1.85 meters of headroom, which means you can come along with some tall friends without worry. Another amazing feature of the saloon is its wide windows that allow you to enjoy panoramic views of the sea and the surroundings.

The galley, which is situated on the starboard’s forequarter, is both practical and well-equipped. Aside from the two-burner gas cooker, the galley also has a chest freezer and a refrigerator, where you can keep your perishables.

There’s also enough storage space in the aft lounge lockers, where you can store supplies for a weeklong or so cruise without the need to restock at various stopovers. The galley adjoins the lounge, which makes reaching for supplies quite easier.

After cruising the whole day and engaging in various water sports activities, you require a comfortable bed on which to lay your head. And the Lagoon 410’s cabins are both spacious and cozy, which means you are guaranteed a sound night’s sleep.

Exterior

The Lagoon 410 has plenty of usable deck space perfect for lounging or relaxing while sitting. The cockpit is set on the catamaran’s rear, and there’s a bimini that provides effective protection from the sun.

You can also chill at the al fresco dinette table as you wait for or enjoy your favorite seafood or any other meal. The foredeck has a large trampoline, where you can lounge as you read a book or sip your favorite tipple or drink.

Moving around the deckhouse is quite seamless thanks to the vessel’s raised ledgers. And if you would like to enjoy some swimming or snorkeling action, then you can conveniently get into the water via the rear skirts.

Under Sail

The Lagoon 410 is a great toy that offers excellent performance at sea. It features Spectra mainsail and genoa jib as well as well-cut sails.

The hull is made of a polyester-vinyl ester foam sandwich that promotes positive buoyancy and minimizes weight for a perfect sail. The crew can enjoy excellent visibility from the helm, which makes mooring relatively simple.

The catamaran, which features two hulls, can also maneuver well in crowds marinas without the need for a thruster, unlike vessels with large monohulls. And apart from the engine alternators, there are two 145W solar panels that can charge the battery.

The cat’s dual 40hp Yanmar sail drive diesel engines are powerful enough to get you
sailing for hundreds if not thousands of miles without stopping. This is something any sailor would love.

Comfort

Accommodation on the Lagoon 410 is great, thanks to the comfortable and spacious four double berths. The well-organized saloon seating, kitchen area, and lounge room, as well as the sufficient ventilation, also add to the comfort aspect of the cat.

In addition, there’s plenty of space on the foredeck with a trampoline where you can lie lazily as you enjoy the scenery around you. Everything about the Lagoon 410 is literally easygoing, and that’s what a sailing trip should be all about.

Why Sail the Lagoon 410

The aim of going on a sailing excursion is to visit new places, venture into scenic islands, and basically have a good time with family and friends. If you charter the Lagoon 410, you’ll be able to visit all the places you ever desired without any restrictions. You’ll spend less, travel more and gather lifetime memories from the many activities you’ll be indulging in while on your sailing expedition.

Other reasons why you may need to consider sailing the Lagoon 410 include:

If you are looking for a vessel that’s stable, well-equipped, and comfortable for a sailing expedition, the Lagoon 410 catamaran is the ideal choice. Lagoon 630 Review – Fulfill All Your Needs!

As a sailing enthusiast, I am always looking forward to opportunities to sail aboard yachts designed and crafted by different makers. What really excites me about them is the opportunity to experience the variety among these boats in terms of their sailing characteristics, design philosophy, onboard amenities, etc.

In other words, most of these boats have something different and unique to offer, and, as a reviewer, I find it important to tell my readers whether they succeeded in their effort.

Not surprisingly, I was thrilled when my husband told me he had chartered a Lagoon 630 for a holiday in Croatia as my birthday gift.

Now here was a boat I had been waiting to get an opportunity to sail aboard and, of course, review. In this Lagoon 630 review, I have sought to provide a detailed write-up based on my experiences during this sailing holiday.

Accommodation

With a length of 63 feet and a beam that measures over 32 feet across, the Lagoon 630 feels big even before getting aboard this boat. The boat has been designed with both private owners and charter operators in mind. In other words, you can hire the Lagoon 630 in different cabin layouts.

The excess space certainly allows the boat to be versatile in terms of its deck layout, which is available in four, five, and six-cabin configurations. Most impressively, even at the maxed-out six-cabin configuration that we chartered, the guests still enjoyed all en-suite amenities.

In other words, 12 people can be luxuriously accommodated in six cabins with en-suite bathrooms and toilet facilities.

The galley downstairs further amplifies the sense of space especially due to its clever design. I particularly liked the top-notch amenities and modern appliances provided in the kitchen, which made me feel like I was at an upscale residence.

During the course of our sail, we found the kitchen large enough to easily support a dinner party for 12 people.

Interior

Before the start of our sail, we were provided a brochure about the Lagoon 630 highlighting its main features, and it made a special mention of its interiors designed by Nauta Design.

I can confirm that the interiors of Lagoon 630 can rival the best in its class with its top-of-the-line finish and sophisticated, clean look. The real star of the show is, unsurprisingly, the main stateroom.

The stateroom can be accessed down a few steps from the starboard side of the saloon. Once inside, our jaws dropped at its size and opulence, which easily rivals a typical luxury downtown apartment.

It features a double bed, lounging area, a heads compartment, and a substantial bathroom. What really caught our attention was the sliding door at the aft end that leads to the rear deck.

The rest of the cabins, in a six-cabin configuration, are reasonably sized with a fit and finish that rivals the main stateroom. The Lagoon 630 comes with a crew, and the cabin reserved for them, unlike the rest, features two bunks instead of a bed.

The saloon area, owing to actual generous space as well as the lateral galley being a part of it, feels wide open. Once again, in theme with the rest of the interiors, Nauta Design has done a fine job when it comes to the layout, finish, and overall design of this integrated space.

The kitchen looks sophisticated with the top of the line appliances such as a fridge, freezer, ice maker, barbecue, and bar. We spent a lot of time socializing and entertaining ourselves in the saloon, where the excellent crew took great care of our every little need.

Exterior

While the interiors of this boat are truly spacious and opulent, they are easily outdone by the sprawl of the main deck area. One measure of the sprawl can be gauged from the fact that the beautifully teak-lined side deck itself is wide enough to easily accommodate a lounge chair.

The generous trampoline area at the foredeck was a special attraction for a sun worshipper like me, a perfect spot to enjoy the agility and swiftness of this boat over calm blue waters.
The helm station at the center of the saloon features two multi-function displays as well as a joystick instead of steering.

The other two helm stations are to be found on the flybridge, with two multi-function screens each, near the seating and sunning area. The flybridge was accessible from the port side of the aft deck, where we went up the handrail-equipped staircase. Once again, it’s hard not to admire the space, versatility, and layout of the flybridge.

Designed with the specific goal of doubling up as an entertaining social space, the two helm stations are flanked by a wet bar, a kitchenette, and a dining area large enough to seat 10 people. The dining table itself is foldable onto the starboard, securing additional space. While we didn’t have it during our sail, there is also an option to accommodate a Jacuzzi close by.

What I particularly liked is that in terms of lounging, the flybridge accommodates the needs of both the sun worshipers as well as those who prefer the cool of a shade. While I was typically enjoying the sun underneath the sliding sunroof, other guests admired the view from the comfort of shade below the hardtop.

Under the Sail

Given the dimensions of this boat, there would be legitimate questions about its fuel efficiency, cruising speeds, and range. However, the Lagoon 630, fitted with two standard Volvo D-4 260 horsepower engines, impresses on all counts.

The Lagoon 630 underwent significant modification in the aft section of its hull to improve buoyancy required to house the Volvo engines. We felt the effect of these design changes in the hull as well as the keel in the boat’s performance characteristics, as it delivered a satisfying cruising speed of 12 knots with a top speed of 16 knots.

Why Sail the Lagoon 630

1. Supremely spacious interiors and deck areas
2. Excellent sailing characteristics and cruising range for a boat of its size
3. Luxurious fit and finish inside and out exemplified by the owner’s stateroom

In Conclusion

There is no doubt that Lagoon 630 has aimed at hitting the sweet spot of sprawling luxury and satisfactory sailing characteristics. On the basis of my experience aboard lagoon 630, I can confidently say this boat ticks all the boxes.

Whether it is space and comfort, stability at sea, a gentle ride, impressive cruising range, or onboard luxuries, the Lagoon 630 seems to tick all the boxes.

The fine crew, who were truly knowledgeable about the hidden coves and beaches along the Croatian coast, further made this a memorable sailing trip with their attention to detail and courteousness.

Lagoon 410 s2 Catamaran Yacht – The Updated Version !

The Lagoon 410 S2 Catamaran is an updated version of the Lagoon 410. I am always interested in exploring the differences between older models and newer versions.

Although there are some differences between the 410 S2, the sailing abilities are very good. The 410 S2 is a yacht that can hold its own.

I found the Lagoon 410 S2 Catamaran to be a comfortable cruising yacht with well-utilized space.

Accommodation

I discovered the performance of the Lagoon 410 S2 to be set to the highest standards of comfort and safety. The S2 is comfortable and cozy. The dining area, galley, and cabins are well-appointed.

There is plenty of space in the salon and galley for preparing meals, and dining and sleeping quarters are spacious and offer enough room to stretch out.

Under sail

Under sail, the 410 S2 is an exceptional sailing yacht that performs well. Primary sail control lines, including the reefing lines and halyard, are operated with the help of an electric winch.

The S2 performs well windward, except in very light air. I would easily charter the Lagoon 410 S2 again, and you should consider it too.

Waterline length allows for larger load carrying for longer offshore passages. Unlike other models with raised booms or flybridge, the S2 is absolved of that issue.

Interior

The interior of the 410 S2 is very spacious and appealing, with lots of natural light in the saloon and cabins. I found the boat to be stylishly designed with warm tones and pleasing color hues.

The navigation station, open-concept galley, and saloon make it a fantastic choice for long cruises. I enjoyed the large main salon for reading and gathering with passengers, which seats six comfortably and eight cozily.

There is lots of storage under the bench in the salon for supplies, food, and other necessities for cruising. Additionally, the S2 has large bilges as well as a large freezer and fridge.

The office area has a desk area for work, and although some sailors find it a wasted space, I found it to be very usable and convenient.

Exterior

The 410 S2 offers lots of room for lounging on the deck and spending time on topside.
I enjoyed laying out on the large trampoline and reading and drinking in the sea breeze.

The exterior area is limited by the size of the cockpit; however, it is the focal point for outside activities.

Comparison with the Lagoon 410

In comparison with the Lagoon 410 – the S2 is just an updated version and perfect for offshore.

Although the 410 seemed heavy, the S2 handles nicely.
Both the 410 and 410 S2 are very similar; however, there were some modifications made to make it more ergonomically designed.

The 410 had the anchor at the bridge deck, whereas the S2 had the anchor at the crossbeam.

Why Sail the Lagoon 410 S2

  • A lot of natural light in the interior
  • Handles nicely in windward conditions
  • The water tank is large enough to be self-contained.
  • Stable and safe even in challenging weather
  • Very comfortable accommodations

In Conclusion

I found the Lagoon 410 S2 to be a solid vessel and well-equipped to handle long offshore passages. Off the wind, the S2 sails in superb comfort.

I found my cruise aboard the Lagoon 410 S2 Catamaran to be very enjoyable, and I and would recommend the yacht to anyone. While there are some issues with the 410 S2, it really is a matter of preference.

Lagoon 570 Catamaran Review – Sailing in Comfort!

The Lagoon 570 was one of the first sailing yachts I was fortunate enough to experience. The 570 is one of the first models of Lagoon catamarans and is one of my favorite boats.

It’s true when it’s said that you never forget your first love, and I have hardly forgotten my affection for these yachts.

Lagoon Cats have remained my go-to sailing vessel, and this Lagoon 570 Catamaran review will explain why I have been a loyal follower of these boats since I first stepped foot aboard the 570.

Accommodation

The purpose of the 570 was to allow passengers to sail in luxury, but I doubt that the vessel intended for passengers to spread out and not move a muscle for a solid week.

I can’t say that is what I did, but I was tempted. That is how comfortable and spacious the 570 was. I could sleep anywhere on this boat without feeling cramped or in an odd position.

Under Sail

The 570 displays considerable power and handles well in moderate winds. I was surprised that the controls only took a light hand and were very easy to get the hang of before I felt completely comfortable at the helm.

The vessel remains strong and steady as it slices through the wind. The 570 isn’t a speedboat, but it is still an impressive boat.

Interior

Teak wood paneling and floors give the boat a homey feel while the lines are kept clean and rounded.

The galley is accessible from the welcoming saloon, which has plenty of room for all the comforts of home.

I enjoyed kicking my feet up for a meal below deck as I gazed out of the windows and took in the view and the sunshine without being out in the elements.

Exterior

Above the deck, the teak wood makes an appearance, leading to the attractive appearance of the boat.

There is a lounge area that quickly became a much sought-after spot for all the passengers.

I appreciated the overall width of the boat that made moving from one end of the boat to the other convenient and without all the twisting and turning required to navigate narrower above-deck walkways.

Comparison with the Lagoon 560

The 570 isn’t exactly what I would call “intimate”, but the Lagoon 560 is a massive vessel.

I like space and room to move, but the 560 can be a bit overkill. If you have a lot of guests and need the space, the 560 is probably your best bet, but I suggest the 570 for a smaller group.

You will still have plenty of room, but you won’t feel as isolated on a boat full of people as you might on the 560.

The 560 is basically an enlarged version of the 570, but it is slow due to being bogged down from its increased size.

Why Sail the Lagoon 570

  • Spacious above and below deck
  • Windows offer incredible views and natural sunlight
  • Attractive interior and exterior designs are tastefully done
  • Luxurious lounge, saloon, and cabins
  • The cockpit is protected from the weather and the sun beating down
  • Lots of storage space
  • Deck and cockpit are easily accessible
  • Powerful under sail and performs well in choppy seas

In Conclusion

If you have a family or a group of friends looking for a yacht charter, you can end the search right now!

The 570 is the perfect vessel for a vacation with loved ones. I can testify to the appeal of the 570, and I will guarantee that you will enjoy every minute onboard!

Lagoon 380 S2 Catamaran Review – Fooling the Eye!

Lagoon 380 S2

The Lagoon 380 S2 is a remodeled version of the original 380 design. I always find it interesting to explore new designs of older models and pick out the differences between the yachts.

The 380S2 had many differences, but it was also a boat that can stand on its own. In comparison to other yachts, the 380S2 could be considered small, but that depends on the sailor and what they think is small.

I found the S2 comfortable without a lot of wasted space, which is a change in many Lagoon catamarans.

Accommodation

I have never felt that just because a boat has a lot of space, that it is a better design than other boats. I found the 380 S2 comfortable but compact and cozy.

The galley and saloon have plenty of room to prepare meals and dine as a group without climbing over each other, and the cabins are equipped with beds that you can stretch out on and there is a good amount of storage space throughout the vessel.

Under Sail

Under sail, the 380 S2 does a fantastic job windward but tends to struggle in other conditions. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you are simply cruising around.

I enjoyed the slower pace and didn’t feel the need to speed it up unless we had to anyway. If you are looking for something more powerful, look at a bigger cat, but if power isn’t a concern, try the 380 S2.

I do feel I need to warn potential sailors that the 380 S2 has a flybridge design that is a bit high, which is not everyone’s cup of tea. Personally, I don’t have any issues with a high flybridge, but if you are sure a flybridge isn’t for you, move on to the next cat.

Interior

The interior of the 380 S2 is attractive and serviceable. There are touches of color here and there to please the eye, but I don’t really mind the interior design as long as it isn’t boring.

I thoroughly enjoyed the saloon booth and could sit for hours reading or chatting with my passengers. The below deck is a welcoming environment that puts everyone at ease and invites conversation.

Exterior

The 380 S2 fools the eye by appearing to be a very small vessel from the exterior, but the boat is, in fact, bigger than you would guess.

There is plenty of room for all passengers to lounge around and spend time together, but this space is at the expense of the cockpit.

The cockpit on the 380 S2 is small, and I found it cramped. The good thing about it is that the cockpit was the only place on the boat I felt was lacking in space, but it was still a little unpleasant.

Comparisons with 380

The greatest differences between the original Lagoon 380 and the 380 S2 seem to be mostly cosmetic.

Both vessels are very similar, right down to their faults. If pressed, I would choose the 380 S2 because the design is more modern and the boat itself is an updated design, but overall, they are not drastically different.

Why Sail the Lagoon S2

  • Though it looks small, there is a good amount of space on board
  • Performs well in windward conditions
  • Safe and stable even in poor weather
  • Comfortable accommodations for yourself and your passengers

In Conclusion

I enjoyed my trip out on the 380 S2 and would recommend the boat to anyone wanting a small boat with just the right amount of space. Yes, there are a few issues with the 380 S2, but they are mostly based on the personal preferences of the sailor.

If it wasn’t for my gripe with the cockpit, I would say that the 380 S2 is the total package! The cockpit can be overlooked in light of all the other positives the 380 S2 has to offer. I’d charter a 380 S2 again in a heartbeat, and you should, too!
