If you are now licensed in the country you reside in as a skipper, obtain the ICC application, fill it out, and forward it to your local licensing bureau.

Once the application process is complete, they will send you the certificate. It is best to research the destination where you intend to rent your motor yacht and review the requirements for bareboat yachting.

If you do choose to rent a bareboat, also be aware that in some regions, they are not available for use overnight, and this may also pertain to charter yachts over 35 feet in length.

If you are new to sailing and don’t have the proper documents yet and would like to give bareboat sailing a try, you can always hire a skipper who will supervise you taking the boat out for a spin.
