Capri Island Boat Ride with Swimming, Sights, and Limoncello

Is there anything better than a Capri Island Boat Ride with Swimming, Sights, and Limoncello? The tour guides are gracious, the music is relaxing, and there is more than enough food and drinks to keep you sated. You can see some of the Island’s most alluring sites from the safety of a Sorrentine Boat.

The boat, on its own, makes for a calm and satisfying journey. But you can also participate in the water activities on offer, including swimming and snorkeling. The schedule might seem tight on some occasionsת but only because the Captain wants you to see as many of the sights of Capri Island as possible.

   Itinerary Capri island    Itinerary

What does a typical Capri Island Boat Ride entail? Well, in most cases, you can expect to see the following:

Meeting Point

You’ll start at La Vela Di Schettino Agnese
There, you’ll meet with your guide and group 10 minutes before starting your boat tour at the entrance of Porto Turistico, right outside of the Bar La Vela. The exact address is Piazza Angelo Ferraro, 12, 80076 Capri NA.

1. Pass By: PTC Marina Di Capri

The journey starts at the marina where an assistant will meet you before guiding you to the dock. The marina is just as magical as the rest of the island. The waters are a deep enchanting blue hue. And you have a decent view of the dramatic craggy coast.

The marina is situated in a natural cove. The sea currents are present but they are manageable because the marina is protected from the wind by the artificial breakwaters. All the modern services and amenities you might want are within easy reach.

For people arriving at the marina, the bus terminal is just around the corner. Though, some people prefer taxi services. Either way, the marina is the perfect starting point for anyone that wants to see the island’s most famous attractions.

2. Pass By: White Grotto

The White Grotto is the first major stop. This is a cave that got its name from the white stalactites and white layers of calcareous material found in and around the cave. The White Grotto has an upper cave and a lower cave. You can’t reach the upper cave, not without great difficulty. One of the most notable aspects of the White Grotto is a stalactite that looks like the Virgin Mary.

If you’re not sure whether or not you want to take this tour, you should know that you cannot visit the White Grotto without a boat.

3. Stop: Green Grotto

While you only pass by the caves of the white grotto, you will actually enter the Green Grotto. Like the White Grotto, the Green Grotto is a natural sea cave that has a dreamy green light that filters through the water, creating a magical atmosphere.

The Green Grotto has a sinister past. Pirates from the 1500s would use it to ambush any ships that passed. It was originally called the ‘Cave of the Turks’. But by the 19th Century, it had become a popular tourist attraction. Like the White Grotto, you need a boat to visit the Green Grotto.

The cave can only support a small number of small boats. So, depending on the time of year, you might have to wait for other people to enter and then leave before exploring the Green Grotto.

4. Pas By: Natural Arch

The Natural Arch was a Grotto and it was quite deep and high. What remains isn’t as impressive as the original Grotto but it is still worth seeing. Experts believe that the arch originated in the Paleolithic Era. Today, it attracts photographers from all over the world who use it to capture amazing seascapes.

You can reach the Natural Arch by foot from the Grotta di Matermania. But the Capri Island Boat Tour offers you an equally appealing opportunity to see it.

5. Pass By: Villa Malaparte

Villa Malaparte is a vibrant picture of contemporary Italian architecture, an imposing crimson structure situated on the cliffs of Punta Massullo. With a backdrop featuring the blue waters of the sea and the Mediterranean countryside, Villa Malaparte offers one of the most gorgeous views in the region. The villa was built in 1943, though no one knows the identity of the designer.

6. Pass By: I Faraglioni

You have probably noticed that many Italian postcards feature images of these rocky spurs. The geological formations were sculpted by the water and the wind over a period of several million years. Anyone who wants a closer look at them must take a boat ride.

7. Pass By: Punta Carena Lighthouse

The lighthouse, which is situated on the Southwestern coast of the island, was built in 1866. It is still active even today. Though, it doesn’t necessarily look its age, not from a distance, because it has been repainted. The lighthouse watches over the Tyrrhenian Sea.

When the tour is over, the skipper will bring you back the the starting point at the La Vela Di Schettino Agnese

  1. Hey thank you for the awesome review!  Capri Island boat Ride looks amazing to me, and it is definitely something my wife and me would love to do!  I prefer sight seeing, and she would prefer swimming (I can’t swim so I would be too terrified of something like that).  That being said, do you think it would be something a kid could enjoy too?  We have a little girl.

  2. Wow. This is a mouthwatering account of a seaside tour that is so beautiful. I know I would enjoy the White and Green Grottos and the availability of on shore dining and entertainment. Maybe most people know but I know and have to ask “Where on the world map is this island and what language is spoken?’ Thanks for the introduction

  5. Hi Daniella

The Capri Island are such a beautiful  area at the Biscay of Naples and you make it sound so wonderful, especially when you are travelling by boat. So much activities that you can do and so many sights to see that you hope that you can do it in the time available to you. I am glad that you found  the food to be excellent as Italian food is off the scale. It is a shame that the blue grotto is off the tour but then again you cannot have everything.

I noticed that you say that the tour may not be suitable for wheelchair users, so can you visit Capri if you are disabled?

    Thanks

    Antonio

    • Hi Antonio,

Glad to see you again on my website!

Sure a disable person can visit Capri even by boat, but it depends on which one. For example, Catamarans are spacious; therefore, can welcome wheelchairs. So this is something to take into consideration.

I am glad you asked this question

    • Hi Ben

I am glad you found the article helpful!

In answer to your question, there are more accidents on the road than on the water. There is all the equipment required for safety and skilled skippers onboard the boat. Also, if the weather doesn’t permit to sail, the trip will be canceled and refund. So there is nothing to worry about:)
